My name is Ivi and I am a Myofascial Pain Syndrome warrior who have found in the breath improvement to my physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. After suffering from chronic pain for over seven years and having received a number of diagnosis, I decided on reconnecting to my body and looking for natural healing. First it was yoga, then I realised my breath was my healer. Today I use Breath Work as a self-care tool to normalise my Autonomic Nervous System and I am pain free. In addition to being a Breath Coach, I am also a BioDynamic Breathwork for Trauma Release Level I Practitioner and an Active Meditation Facilitator.
Our breath is the only thing we can control in our lives. There must be a very good reason why, right? When consciously using our breath as a self-care tool, we are optimising our breathing and training our Autonomic Nervous System to be more responsive and adaptive to the environment we are living in. With only 5 minutes of breathing exercise, we can change our mind state and shift ourselves from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) to parasympathetic (rest & digest) response. During my healing journey, I discovered that I was mostly breathing fast, shallow and through my mouth. This is a typical sign of stress and being stuck on sympathetic response, in which I am not giving my mind and body the time to increase bloody flow, decrease heart rate, rest & digest.
